Jacob's Dohl/Dol (Korean 1st Birthday Party) | Fullerton, CA

A dohl (or dol) is a Korean 1st birthday party. The main event at a dohl is called a doljabi, and this is where a variety of objects are placed in front of the baby. Each object means something, and whichever the child goes to predicts his/her future! Some examples are a gavel representing a laywer or stethoscope for doctor. Jacob crawled to the cash, indicating he will have wealth :) Although when he touched it just a smidge, everyone starting “ooh-ing” which startled him and… well you can see the photos for what happened next!

Jacob also had his first taste of cotton candy and a birthday cake, which he didn’t care to smash. All in all, it was a fun party with just the couple’s closest friends and family and delicious food—a taco stand, crepe cart, and cotton candy!

Happy birthday to sweet Jacob!
