Palos Verdes Beach Maternity Session | Jinny + Adam | FEATURED

Jinny and Adam hired me as their wedding videographer last year, and it was definitely one of my favorite weddings to date! Not only was it an incredible day with incredible people (at my favorite venue ever, Greystone Mansion), but it was also kind of the start of my journey of shooting film photography. Their photographer, Lindsey, became my mentor and taught me the ropes. It’s funny how one thing leads to another!

I was so excited when Jinny asked me if I would document her pregnancy (unfortunately Lindsey isn’t local, so I’m Jinny’s 2nd best choice). It’s so much fun to see my clients begin new journeys in life and to be with them along the way. Our shoot was on Halloween, and I can’t think of a better way to spend that “holiday” (not a fan of it). The sky was cloudy with the sun coming and going, and I love the variety of lighting situations that we ended up getting during the hour! Since it’s sunny 98% of the time in SoCal, a lot of people can be disappointed when it’s not a clear day for their session, but I actually love the way that overcast conditions render on film. It truly can’t be matched with digital.

We started walking back to our cars just before the sun went over the horizon, and we couldn’t stop looking back at how gorgeous it was. Partially cloudy days actually produce the best sunsets!

Congrats to these new parents. I’m so thrilled for you and can’t wait to meet your baby boy!!
