Rainy Urban Surprise Proposal

Jen and Jiyong are good friends of ours who asked me to take some family photos as well as some couple’s portraits of them. SoCal lately has been getting SO MUCH RAIN, and unfortunately it happened to rain on the day we were planning our shoot as well.

Then Jiyong messaged me privately saying he was going to use the photoshoot opportunity to propose, and I was so stoked!! Because of the rain, we decided we wouldn’t go to the regional park we were planning on for a location, and we would play the couple’s portrait portion by ear.

After getting the family portraits done, J+J and I decided to drive around in an attempt to find a decent spot near the family’s house to take a few photos despite the rain. Jiyong had told me he wanted to propose anyway, and he would just do it in the rain. How romantic, right?! (Though I love golden hour especially here in SoCal, it’s a myth that every shoot needs to be done in that lighting!)

We didn’t find any spots while driving around, so finally I said we should just take some right in the street. The mountains were in the background in the distance, and it looked so beautiful! So, we got out of the car, danced in the rain a bit, and then Jiyong got down on one knee presenting the ring box. Jen was adorably surprised :-) She said yes, btw!
